Strategy and Budget Department of the Republic of Turkey Presidential 11th Development Plan (2019-2023) is as stated in; an economic and social development process that produces more value is envisaged for our country to gain international competitiveness by increasing productivity in every field and by the move of national technology. The objectives of the Development Plan for priority sectors are becoming the leading country in the region of our country in clinical research, clinical trials before the license condition to ensure regardless of R & D activities excluded from the scope, differentiation of clinical research of R & D support, at the international level to increase the share received from the international support provided to enhance the visibility of Turkey for membership to the network in clinical studies. Turkey revealed the development vision, according to R & D and innovation investment, which will be given to 11th Development Plan, Turkey's global pharmaceutical R & D and be the manufacturing center in the long term, achieving a competitive position in the pharmaceutical and medical device fields in importance supplies.
Within the scope of the "Vision 2023 Technology Foresight Project" carried out by TÜBİTAK, our vision in the field of health is to provide high quality and economical health services to everyone living within the borders of the country, everywhere and anytime, equipped with modern technology, capable of adapting to the innovations in the field of life sciences; developing and producing high-tech treatment systems, materials and devices used for this purpose by gaining competence in life sciences and biotechnology; having a power in the region by having a pharmaceutical industry with research capacity as well as manufacturing pharmaceuticals ”. In addition to Vision 2023, raising the awareness of health personnel and the public for rational drug use, controlling the quality and use of drugs and medical devices and the effectiveness of their expenditures in among the policies related to health in the 11th Development Plan. With this program, it is defined as the transition to a production structure that can produce high value-added products, offer products and services to global markets, and meet a larger part of the domestic drug and medical device needs. In this context, it is very important to determine road maps in the medical device sector, to develop innovative products, to increase the number of national and international researchers, and to increase the cooperation with the industry in the relevant sectors. In addition, the development of cooperation models with the pharmaceutical industry and the creation of medical device clusters and increasing university-industry cooperation is another emphasis of the plan.
Within the scope of the Investment Program of Technological Research Sector under the new Infrastructure Project Call, 2019K12- 149 080 number "Development of Innovative Biomedical Device with Translational Medicine Approach to Respiratory Disease Areas" project prepared by "Ege University Translational Pulmonology Research Group (EgeTPAG)" have been deserved to be supported by Republic of Turkey Presidential Strategy and Budget Department. In this project based on the application of translational medicine to the field of pulmonology; it is aimed to develop biomedical devices using new generation materials in the early diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of many lung diseases, especially lung cancer and airway diseases with the cooperation of clinical, basic and engineering sciences. Ege University Translational Pulmonary Research Center (EgeTPRC) established for the project is aimed to conduct scientific research on an advanced level in the biomedical device manufacturing and develop high added value, high-tech medical devices and innovative products along with maximization of the level of university-industry cooperation in Turkey. In addition, it is aimed to create new biomarker panel kits and develop immune therapeutic drugs for use in the early diagnosis, follow-up and treatment of lung cancer and asthma diseases.
