Vision and Mission
EgeTPRC’s vision is to be a translational research center where basic sciences and clinic meet in the scope of diagnosis and treatment of lung diseases, in particular asthma, COPD, IPF and lung cancer, while adopting the concept of “bench-to-bedside”. With its translational studies, EgeTPRC aims to be one of the pioneering centers with critical importance in Turkey which adds value to our country with international collaborations.
Under the roof of EgeTPCR, there are researchers who can operate together in synchronization and perform integrated researches from the Departments of Chest Diseases, Allergy-Immunology, Oncology, Medical Biology, Medical Genetics, Pathology, Pharmacology, Histology and Embryology in the Faculty of Medicine; from the Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Mathematics in the Faculty of Science, from the Department of Bioengineering in the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Pharmacy in Ege University. There are also researchers from Dokuz Eylül University, İzmir High Technology University, İzmir Katip Çelebi University, Suat Seren Chest Diseases and Surgery Training and Research Hospital in İzmir in addition to more than 40 researchers from Marmara and Medipol Universities in İstanbul. EgeSAM bünyesindeki projelerde yer almaktadır. Besides national researchers, EgeTPRC cooperates with international researchers from the countries such as Germany, Poland, Belgium, Finland, Israel, Austria and the USA; and also conducts joint studies with researchers or consultants from the global R&D sector.
EgeTPCR aims at becoming a national reference point for biological monitorization of respiratory diseases along with development and implementation of personalized diagnostic kit for lung cancer and other respiratory diseases with the analyzes first time conducted in exhaled breath in Turkey. EgeTPCR is designed as a research institute with the goal of serving as a Phase-1 clinical research center not just for respiratory diseases but also for other diseases that are treated in our hospital. In this regard, Ege University Chest Disease Group, as one of Turkey’s leading research groups, foresees to operate at world standards in a short notice owing to their years of international experience in more than hundred Phase-2 and Phase-3 studies together with one Phase-1 study in various respiratory diseases such as lung cancer, asthma, COPD and lung fibrosis.
